Bashar Mardini keeps the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia Michelin Cup class lead

GDL Racing completed a fruitful weekend at the Paul Ricard circuit that hosted the second of seven double rounds of the Carrera Cup Italia, where Bashar Mardini arrived as Championship leader.

The Emirate’s driver, making this year his debut in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup series with the Gianluca De Lorenzi’s squad, after claiming a double victory in Imola continued his effort in perfect shape. In France Mardini topped the qualifying and won the first race, although a five-second penalty for track limits pushed him back to the third position.

In race two Mardini finished fourth in his class and secured his lead, eight points ahead of the second placed Niccolò Mercatali.

Gianluca De Lorenzi kept the Silver Cup lead after claiming two class victories in Imola. At Paul Ricard the Italian racer finished second in race one but didn’t finish race two. Actually he has four points more than Luca Lorenzini, but he will not take part in the next events as he will have a different commitment. The next Carrera Cup Italia will be held in Monza on 2nd-3rd June.
