Breukers-Jefferies claim a podium finish at Nürburgring looking forward to the last rush in Imola

Breukers-Jefferies claim a podium finish at Nürburgring looking forward to the last rush in Imola

It was a bitter sweet weekend for GDL Racing, that claimed another podium finish and more points at Nürburgring with the Rik Breukers and Axcil Jefferies duo, in the fifth of six Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europa rounds.

The team led by Gianluca De Lorenzi postponed the battle for the title in Imola, in the middle of November, as the Italian track will host the World Final open to the Sant’Agata Bolognese’s cars.

Just seven points separate the Dutch and Zimbawe’s driver from the PRO class leaders, with 32 points still to be awarded. Shame that in Germany they lost the third place in Race 1, due to a 10-second penalty for a last turn contact between Jefferies – demoted to the sixth place and the fifth of his class – and Brazilian Raphael Abbate. With the Monza and Spa victories, as well as six podiums, the GDL Racing crew confirmed as a frontrunner.

At Nürburgring Mario Cordoni took also a best tenth place in the AM Cup with another GDL Racing’s car, whilst Dilantha Malagamuwa and Benitez-Cuenca finished behind both the races.

From Germany to Shanghai, the De Lorenzi’s squad will face this coming weekend also the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia fifth round, where Hong Kong’s Nigel Farmer, pairing with Breukers, aims to the PRO-AM class lead, with 21 points more than Eskelinen-Ebenal duo.
