GDL Racing and GDL Racing Team Asia completed 24 hours racing no stop in Abu Dhabi and Malaysia
GDL Racing completed a very intensive weekend claiming a pleasing result. In just 24 hours, the Gianluca De Lorenzi-led squad entered two races, in Abu Dhabi and Malaysia scoring a good position in the 12 Hours of Sepang – this year organized by SRO – under the banner of GDL Racing Team Asia.
At the end of a selective and tough race due to the weather condition, Singaporean Liam Lim Keong and Bruce Lee together with local driver Gilbert Ang, shared the wheel of Porsche 997 GT3 Cup S taking the third place of the GTC PRO-AM class from the start and moving down on fourth in the last moments when Peter Kox’s Audi R8 passed them.
Less lucky were Melvin Moh, Wee Keong and Andrew Tang, whose Porsche 991 has been involved in a crash at the end of the second lap, forcing the GDL Racing Team Asia men to an extra effort, sending back the car to the track sevent in the GTC class, before the crew recovered fifth.
The day before, at the Yas Marina circuit, in Abu Dhabi, GDL Racing entered the fifth edition of Gulf 12H, when the San Marino-based team was not so lucky. Particularly the Porsche 991 shared by Italian Mario Cordoni, Swissman Roberto Selva and Frenchman Rémi Terrail, who finished their race at the very first turn, after having finished second in the qualifying.
Good performance for American Jim Michaelian, Italian Roberto Rayneri and the UAE driver Bashar Mardini, who ended fourth in their class with a twin car.
