GDL Racing celebrates historical victory at 12H Italy-Mugello
GDL Racing claimed yesterday a historical victory at 12H Italy-Mugello. The San Marino-based team dominated the SPX class with a brand new Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo that made its debut in this second round of the Creventic championship, following the 24H Dubai held last January.
A perfect strategy and the skill of the two drivers, team owner Gianluca De Lorenzi and young but expert Giacomo Barri – who set the second quickest lap in the qualifying on Friday – were the secret of success. At the end of the first four hours, on Friday, the GDL Racing Lamborghini took the lead and the 16th overall place with a total of 65 cars on track. In the second part of Saturday, De Lorenzi and Barri continued to made the pace in their class, entering the top 10 and finishing eight.
Less luck for Dutch Ivo and Rik Breukers, father and son, who scored the fifth place in the A6-AM class with a Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 also lined up by the GDL Racing. Porsche 991 Cups of the Gianluca De Lorenzi’s team, driven by Dario Cerati-Nicola Bravetti-Adriano Pan and Rory Pettinen-Rémi Terrail-Alberto Vescovi, finished respectively seventh and eight in the SP2 class, despite of some contacts a very huge traffic.
