GDL Racing claims a podium finish after a thrilling Gulf 12 Hours
2016 season came at the end for the GDL Racing with an extraordinary result as the Gianluca De Lorenzi’s team claimed a podium finish in the GENT class and the eight overall position among 24 cars in the Gulf 12 Hours that was held this weekend at the Yas Marina Circuit of Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates.
Mario Cordoni, Roberto Silva and the “newcomer” Steven Liquorish, the English experienced driver with several participations in the GT4 European Series and endurance races, thanks to a great strategy brought their Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo on the second position after fighting with the more powerful GT3 cars.
Although the stop of the second Lambo shared by Jim Michaelian, Roberto Rayneri and Mikhail Spiridonov, that was involved in an early crash, one more time the GDL Racing could celebrate after a true “tour de force” starded two weeks ago in Valencia, when it clinched the second overall in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe with the young Dutch Rik Breukers – who won the first race in Spain – followed by the second place in the GTC Class at 12 Hours of Sepang with Breukers, Melvin Moh and Wee Liam Lim.
Now the team led by Gianluca De Lorenzi is already looking forward the next season, that will kick off with the Creventic’s 24H Dubai scheduled from 12 to 14 of January.
