GDL Racing claims AM class victory at Monza

GDL Racing claimed a spectacular win at his debut in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europa, in the first out of six double rounds of the season that has been held last weekend at Monza, where the 17-year-old Rik Breukers topped the AM class in Race 1.

Dutchman – who is also the youngest driver of the championship – finished 15th overall under the banner of the Gianluca De Lorenzi’s squad, with more of 47 cars on track.

Breukers, who already set a considerable 1:49.532 in the qualifying, putting his Lamborghini ninth on the starting grid, made a recover and clinched the highest position on the podium. In Race 2 he eventually finished 16th and second of his class.

With another GDL Racing’s car, portuguese Patrick Cunha and Emirate’s Bashar Mardini showed well in the PRO-AM class, taking the 23rd e 22nd position.

Next round for the San Marino-based team in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europa will be in three weeks, on 14th and 15th of May, at the British venue of Silverstone.
