GDL Racing clinches at Imola the GT Open class title
GDL Racing clinched last weekend the title of the GT Open in the last round of Targa Tricolore Porsche at Imola with the Italian-Swiss duo Vittorio Bagnasco-Nicola Bravetti, who were joined by Dubai’s Bashar Mardini.
The Porsche 997 Cup S racecar shared by the three experienced drivers dominated the class although an engine problem in the early stages of the 200 miles (3 hours). The GDL Racing team made an extraordinary job and let Bagnasco-Bravetti-Mardini to recover as they claimed the final ninth place.
It was the first win for Mardini – who also manged to score the fastest lap of his class – at his very first appearance at the Santerno track, one year after he made his debut with the San Marino based squad.
