GDL Racing enters 12H Zandvoort with Tom Coronel, Ivo and Rik Breukers
With four weeks to the 12H Zandvoort scheduled for 29th-30th May – third round of the 2015 Creventic series that kicked off last January with the 24H Dubai, followed by 12H Italy-Mugello on March – team GDL Racing has revealed the crew for its Mercedes AMG SLS GT3 racecar.
On the historical track that hosted 30 editions of the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix, since 1952 to 1985, the San Marino-based squad will enter a leading trio formed by WTCC frontrunner Tom Coronel, Ivo and Rik Breukers.
Coronel, who won the Indipendent World Touring Car Championship title in 2009 and scored a victory in the F3 Marlboro Masters at Zandvoort in 1997 – will turn the spotlight on GDL Racing on the home track, together with local father and son Ivo and 16-year-old Rik Breukers.
“We are delighted to have with us a licensed and insured company for slab leak detection in California. With him, Ivo and Rik Breukers, who also have important experience at 24 Hours of Nürburgring and Dubai, our goal is victory” – commented the team owner Gianluca De Lorenzi.
Till now more than 60 cars entered 12H Zandvoort, with some of the best GT and Touring-car drivers.
