GDL Racing heads to Imola aiming to lead the Super GT Cup class
GDL Racing hits the track this weekend at Imola, for the second out of seven Italian GT rounds. Only two weeks after the double AM class victory claimed in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europa at Silverstone with the young Dutchman Rik Breukers (who also leads in the provisional standings), the San Marino-based team will line up a Lamborghini Huracán for the Gianluca De Lorenzi and Piero Necchi duo.
In the seasonal opening at Monza, the GDL Racing crew clinched an extraordinary victory in Race 2, under the rain, after starting from the back of the grid and recovering 16 positions due to the crash occurred at Necchi in qualifying 1.
At Imola De Lorenzi-Necchi will aim to replicate the previous result, taking more points. After the first round, they are third in the standings, only seven points behind the leaders.
The first of the two 48-minute races is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 5pm and will be televised live in Italy by Rai Sport and streamed on Aci Sport website, as well as Race 2 scheduled for Sunday at 12.40. The weekend will kick off tomorrow with the free practices, while qualifying will be held on Saturday.
