
GDL Racing makes its debut in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europa
GDL Racing is set to make its debut in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europa as the 2016 season will kick off this weekend at Monza.
The team led by Gianluca De Lorenzi expands its program by lining up two cars in the prestigious one-make championship.
One of the GDL Racing Lamborghinis will be shared by portuguese Patrick Cunha, who already has a lot of experience in the GT series under his belt, and Emirate’s Bashar Mardini, a specialist of the endurace races.
The second Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2 will be driven by 17-year-old Rik Breukers, the youngest driver who entered the series this year. Dutch boy made his debut with the San Marino-based squad at the last 24H Dubai, on January, racing for GDL Racing also in the 12H Italy-Mugello together with his father Ivo.
At the Tuscany track, the GDL Racing entered for the first time a Lamborghini car, claiming the victory in the SPX class with the Giacomo Barri and De Lorenzi duo.
The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europa consists of six rounds, with two 50-minute races per weekend, at Monza, Silverstone (Great Britain), Le Castellet (France), Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium), Nürburgring (Germany) and Valencia (Spain).
The first race at Monza is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 3.20pm, while Race 2 will be held on Sunday at 1.15pm. Both the races will be televised line in Italy by Nuvolari TV and will be streamed on the Lamborghini Squadra Corse official website. Saturday will be also held the two qualifying sessions, with the free practices scheduled for Friday.
