GDL Racing takes the lead in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series ELITE 2, Lady Cup and Team standings
GDL Racing ended last weekend the third round of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series at Brands Hatch (UK) by taking the lead in the ELITE 2, Lady Cup and Team standing. The San Marino-based squad claimed a best second place in the ELITE 2 first race with Philipp Liez, who finished fifth in Race 2. The Austrian racer, after having scored a double win in the previous round at Venray, now tops the charts one point ahead of Thomas Ferrando and Gianmarco Ercoli.
Italian female driver Francesca Linossi, continued her positive momentum as she finished ninth and seventh, leading the Lady Cup standings. In the same ELITE 2 class, Niki Petersen claimed the fourth place in Race 1. In Race 2 the Danish racer fought for the third position, before a contact prevented him from jumping on the podium.
In ELITE 1, GDL Racing scored the ninth, 11th and 12th position respectively with Lietz, the other Austrian driver Dominic Tiroch and Swede Freddy Nordström. Eventually Lietz claimed the eight place in Race 2, while Nordström and Tiroch finished tenth and 12th.
After the first six races of the season, the Gianluca De Lorenzi’s squad also tops the Teams standings, with the fourth round of the series scheduled for the 26th-27th of June at the Tours Speedway, in France.
