GDL Racing to enter the Nascar Whelen Euro Series
GDL Racing team extends its programs for the 2014 season as it announced to compete in the Nascar Whelen Euro Series this year. The San Marino-based squad, in addition to its participation in the VLN Championship, in the more prestigious endurance races (included 24 Hours of Nürburgring, Spa-Francorchamps and Dubai), Belgian BRCC series, Targa Tricolore Porsche and Italian GT, will enter the “European-American” championship lining up two cars.
“We’re strongly motivated to make our debut in the Nascar Whelen Euro Series. – commented the GDL Racing’s team manager Gianluca De Lorenzi – We aim to be competitive soon, although the level of the championship is very high, with 35 cars in the field”.
The Nascar Whelen Euro Series will be raced in six rounds. GDL Racing will make its first appearance since the Nürburgring race in July, before the semi-final of Magione and the Le Mans finals scheduled for late October.
One of the drivers will be De Lorenzi. “I’m thrilled to drive a car without any kind of electrical help in a high-level championship that remembers the old Super Touring Car Championship and my only participation in the Carrera Cup Italia in 2007, where we missed the title just by one point”.
