GDL RACING’S AGOSTINI/BREUKERS DOUBLE AT ABU DHABI
GDL Racing takes it all in the first round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East. At the Yas Marina circuit, after having started the 2018 season by claiming the victory in yesterday’s Race 1, the reigning champion Rik Breukers and Riccardo Agostini, doubled in Race 2.
The Italian-Dutch duo completed a perfect weekend, with Breukers able to recover second in the first part of the race and Agostini taking the lead after the mandatory pit-stop and defending it till the last of the 50-minute race.
Plenty of points for the GDL Racing pair, that also took the championship lead, whilst their team mates Australian John Iossifidis e the other Dutchman William Van Deyzen finished twice third in Lamborghini Cup. A fourth and a fifth place in their class is the balance of Austrian Christopher Zöchling and newcomer Iranian Sam Taheri, the latter making his debut with the Gianluca De Lorenzi’s squad in the one-make series open to the Sant’Agata Bolognese’s cars.
In the Team standings GDL Racing now takes the first place. The next and second round of the series is scheduled in two weeks, on 16/17 February.
