GDL takes double PRO-AM win and one overall victory at Sepang
GDL Racing took the win at its debut in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia. In the first seasonal round of the series at Sepang, the team led by Gianluca De Lorenzi scored P1 with Dutch Rik Breukers – who recently won the Middle East championship title with GDL – and skilled Hong Kong’s Nigel Farmer.
The PRO-AM duo claimed the overall victory in Race 1 thanks to a perfect pit stop that let Farmer to take the lead after replacing his team mate, who set the second quickest lap in the qualifying, mantaing the first place during the first part of the race.
In Race 2 Farmer started from P8 and left the wheel Breukers. Eventually the Dutch made an extraordinary recovery.
At the end of the first out of a six-event calendar, Breukers and Farmer lead the standings.
The next Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia will be held on 20-21 May at the Thai venue of Buriram.
