After having started the 2017 season with a stunning class victory at 24H Dubai with Pierre Ehret, Frank Pelle, Rory Penttinen and Vic Rice, who brought their Lamborghini first among the Sant’Agata Bolognese cars, GDL Racing is set to face a new challenge lining up three Huracáns in the first out of the three Super Trofeo Middle East rounds scheduled for 9-11 February.

Under the banner of the GDL Team Asia, the new team always led by Gianluca De Lorenzi, Indonesian Andrew Haryanto will enter the AM class, in which he claimed the crown last year in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia.

GDL Middle East enters two cars and welcomes 22-year-old Axcil Jefferies, who has some important experiences both in the GP2 and American Indy Lights championships. The Zimbawe’s driver makes his comeback to track after a brief stop, betting everything on the Lamborghini Super Trofeo and pairing with 18-year-old Rik Breukers, the reigning PRO-AM runner up of the European series and second last year in the World Final held at Valencia before he moved to PRO.

Brit Steve Liquorish – who already took part in the last 12H of Abu Dhabi with GDL Racing team – will drive another Lamborghini.

Last but not least GDL will support at Abu Dhabi the former F.1 Mimmo Schiattarella’s X One team, that will line up a car for Costantino Bertuzzi – four times Ferrari Challenge world champion and three times winner in the IMSA – who will share the wheel with Nigel Farmer, the Hong Kong’s driver who has also a commitment with the De Lorenzi’s team in the Radical Middle East series.

“Our goal is to win as well as to prepare a very busy 2017 season” – Gianluca De Lorenzi said.

The other two rounds of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East will be raced at Dubai, the first just one week after Abu Dhabi and the last one in the first weekend of March.
