Rik Breukers takes it all at Silverstone for GDL Racing

GDL Racing completed an extraordinary weekend at Silverstone, in the second out of six rounds of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europa, celebrating the Rik Breukers’ double victory.

Dutchman, who turned 18 last Saturday and is the youngest of the grid, proved to be also one of the fastest on track. After having started the season at Monza, three weeks ago, by taking the victory in the AM class in Race 1, Breukers was the absolute frontrunner once more.

In England he claimed a double victory, bringing to three the number of wins in the first four races for the Gianluca De Lorenzi’s team.

Breukers started by setting the pole position in Qualifying 1 and the second time in Q2. In Race 1 he took the lead, claiming a flag to flag win. Similar story in Race 2.

Very good job also for Bashar Mardini, who claimed a podium finish in Race 2 after some electronic gearbox issues prevented him to take another brilliant result in Race 1. On Sunday the team was able to resolve the problem, letting Mardini to finish third.

The next round of the championship is scheduled for the end of June at the Paul Ricard circuit, that will host the third of the six rounds of the 2016 calendar.
