Carrera Cup Italia championship kicked off in the best way for GDL Racing. The team led by Gianluca De Lorenzi hit the track last weekend at Mugello in the first of six 2020 Porsche rounds.

In Tuscany, a true surprise was Risto Vukov. The Macedonian, who made his series’ debut, impressed claiming two top 10 finishes over 21 cars.

Vukov showed to have a great pace, setting the tenth quickest lap in the qualifying that let him to start from the fifth row in the first race, when he recovered well to finish ninth and score his first two points.

Starting from the fifth row again in Race 2, the Macedonian was one of the fastest drivers on track and claimed P10.

We were very impressed from Risto. He improved constantly, making good use of my recommendations and of the engineers”, De Lorenzi said, “For sure we have one of the best cars of the field.

Great debut also for Max Montagnese, who finished Race 1 as Silver Cup leader. Not bad at all for the gentleman racer from Calabria, who shared the wheel with Max Donzelli, the latter making is absolute debut and fourth in his class in Race 2.

Next Carrera Cup Italia round will be hosted at Misano on 1/2 August.

GDL Racing’s rookie Risto Vukov claims two top 10 finishes in the Carrera Cup Italia opener at Mugello
